George Clooney and wife Amal reportedly welcomed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to their home in Italy. The royal couple was said to have spent the weekend at the Clooneys' Lake Como residence but the visit was kept private.
According to ABC News, royal expert Omid Scobie revealed that the Prince and the Duchess of Sussex’s Italian getaway was a top-secret operation. He relayed that the “Ocean’s 11” actor went to great lengths to get the Royals to his home.
"Clooney actually flying them over to Como from London on his private jet and then an unmarked motorcade transported them from the airfield to the home with, of course, their protection officers in tow," Scobie said.
In the luxurious villa, it is said that George Clooney showed his motorcycle collection to Prince Harry while Amal and Meghan lounged by the pool and played with the Clooneys' 1-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.
Now, how come they are close enough to be visiting each other’s homes? Amal and George’s presence in Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding already surprised a lot of people. So what is the relationship between them?
In May, People reported that Amal Clooney was not just any guest to the royal wedding because as it turned out, the 40-year-old lawyer is Meghan Markle’s confidante.
“Meghan and Amal have known each other for a while and they share many interests,” an insider told the magazine. “Amal has been helping Meghan settle into London life and it was a very natural friendship from day one.”
Based on the report, Amal and Meghan have a common friend who introduced them to each other. The pair was said to have gotten closer when the latter moved to the U.K. while the former has been practicing her profession in London.
Meanwhile, Kensington Palace refused to comment when contacted about Meghan and Prince Harry’s three-day visit to Amal and George Clooney’s home in Italy.
