As part of Ubisoft UBI30 celebration in turning 30 years old, the company has been giving away free games since last June. After offering classics like “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell”, and “Rayman Origins,” the company is now giving PC gamers the chance to download “The Crew” for free. The offer is only for the month of August, however, so it’s best to get it now instead of risking forgetting by putting it off until later.
“The Crew” is an open world driving simulator where players can drive from one end of the United States to the other. According to a post by the company, the title was an important step for Ubisoft since it was its first open world game that was actual, fully connected.
“Recreating the full US territory form East Coast to West Coast, this game offers endless hours of driving across the most iconic American spots,” the post reads. “Through the Crew, Ubisoft proposed a way to reinvent Driving games by offering features that were traditionally dedicated to MMO or shooter games. This is also the first game Ubisoft developed and keeps on nurturing with constant community support and regular content update.”
It’s just too bad the game wasn’t received with high praise upon release, BGR notes. At least now, players can give the game a whirl without having to pay for anything.
As CNET notes, the game is currently priced at $29.99 at Steam; quite the high price for a game that players might not even like. In terms of the game works, it has both single player and multiplayer elements that gamers can choose from. Players can also choose from a variety of vehicles, explore a huge open world map, and get involved in some rather questionable activities along with their teammates.
