‘Fortnite’ Latest News, Update: Epic Faces Backlash Amidst Desire to Slow Down the Game’s Pace

“Fortnite” is currently facing a massive backlash from its own community following the recent changes its made on patch v8.20. In update v7.40, Epic Games implemented a change that gave players 50 health and 50/50/50 material drops upon killing an opponent, vg247 reported.

Also, the developers increased the materials caps by 500/500/500 and accelerated harvest rate by 40 percent. All of that is gone now. Following the latest “Fortnite” update, players roared their displeasure at the changes implemented and wants Epic to revert the abovementioned alterations.

Among those that have voiced their concern is Ninja, one of the most popular streamers of “Fortnite.” Even professional footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović has also joined in on the discussion and called for Epic Games to fix the issue.

So far, however, the team remains silent about the matter. One of the major reasons why Epic decided to roll out these changes is that they feel that “Fortnite” gameplay became one-dimensional, with aggressive plays the only path that players are choosing. In short, they want to slow down the pace of the game, presumably to cater to newer players who are getting demolished on a constant basis.

Ninja argued that while he understands the dev’s desire to somewhat diminish aggressive gameplay, they could’ve done so in different ways. There’s also the fact that aggressive tactics encourage more people to engage each other resulting in more “Fortnite” highlights – legendary plays or otherwise.

For now, Arena is the only mode in “Fortnite” where players can enjoy the above-mentioned health and material features. The problem is that as players progress higher through the Arena, queuing takes longer and longer, with matchmaking time taking as long as 30 to 40 minutes.

With Epic maintaining their silence and the players’ voicing their frustration louder, “Fortnite” is in a dangerous situation of losing some of its audiences. This is especially true since “Apex Legends” is making huge waves in the Battle Royale genre. Hopefully, Epic will listen to its community and revert the changes as early as next week.
