The Fourth Plate wrapped up on a happy note after the Rebel Alliance defeated Central in the intense Team Shokugeki. After Erina Nakiri was named the new director of the Totsuki Culinary Academy, everything appeared to have fallen back to its rightful place. However, the post-credit scene ended on a cryptic note as the wait for “Food Wars” season 5 started.
'Food Wars’ season 5 spoilers: Who is the mystery man from the Fourth Plate finale
After the season 4 finale credits rolled, Erina was shown in her main office as Hisako called in a special visitor. The guest was a young man with messy dark hair. He had a huge smirk on his face, whose appearance seemed to have intrigued Erina. Even anime-only fans picked up on the hints that he will play a major role in “Food Wars” season 5.
He is going to be the main villain that will shake the culinary world, especially in Erina’s perspective. His name is Asahi, but he had several identities in the manga that was building up to a major surprise in the latter parts of the series.
He enters the scene, almost like Azami did, but his plans for the culinary world are more vile and self-serving. He is adamant in becoming a legitimate part of the Nakiri clan and wants to do that by openly declaring his desire to marry Erina. That was Asahi in a nutshell in the manga. However, it is unclear if these aspects of the characters will be retained in “Food Wars” season 5.
'Food Wars’ season 5: Plot changes from manga to anime?
The first introduction of Asahi in the anime series was already tweaked compared to the original story in the manga. His manga entrance was more dramatic and darker and successfully denoted that he is a more dangerous villain. In the manga, he first appeared in a shokugeki where he defeated Joichiro Yukihira (5-0). Does this suggest major plot alterations for “Food Wars” season 5?
That might not be the case because Asahi’s anime debut did not actually disrupt the narrative yet, just the order of events. “Food Wars” season 5 could still open with the story arc where the Elite Ten are sent out on a mission that will lead to the discovery of the Les Cuisiniers Noirs (The Midnight Chefs) that have infiltrated the culinary industry in Japan. “Food Wars” season 5 is slated to premiere in April.
