Dazzling Light Shows Brighten Hong Kong at Night for the Holidays

HONG KONG and LOS ANGELES, Dec. 04, 2017 -- Two world-class light and special effect shows illuminated the sky over Hong Kong's world-famous Victoria Harbour as the city welcomed the holidays with the unveiling of spectacular enhancements to the internationally-acclaimed A Symphony of Lights show and the winter version of the Hong Kong Pulse Light Show.

The re-imagined light shows, free for general viewing, will dazzle viewers with dynamic lighting effects and create an illusion of a winter wonderland inside Hong Kong's Cultural Centre.

The 10-minute A Symphony of Lights show, best viewed from the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, features dynamic rays of light sent out in rhythm from 40 buildings and locations on both sides of Victoria Harbour. The newly enhanced show incorporates a variety of exciting lighting effects such as colorful searchlights, lasers, and all-new beam lights sent out like a special fan-shaped lighting effect from the roof of the Central Government Offices and the Revenue Tower. For the first time in the show's history, LED panels have been placed on harbor-side buildings, displaying interactive images and messages to encourage audience participation. In addition to special effects, the program is complemented by music from Asia’s leading classical orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, providing visitors with a thrilling and unforgettable sound-and-light experience.

Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board in 2004, A Symphony of Lights is recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's largest permanent light and sound show. Travelers can enjoy the show free of charge from various vantage points, including the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront outside the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, and the promenade outside the Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai. Harbor cruises are also available to book and offer dramatic viewpoints of the colorful show from the famous Victoria Harbour. The 10-minute show operates daily starting at 8 p.m. (Hong Kong time). In coordination with the new show, A Symphony of Lights mobile app is available to download, allowing visitors to listen to music simultaneously and share their photos on social media.

The winter version of Hong Kong Pulse Light Show immediately follows A Symphony of Lights with a dramatic 3-D projection of a snowstorm covering the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Intense snow and ice conditions blow away the numbers on Hong Kong's 145-foot Clock Tower, stopping time just before Christmas arrives, prompting an ingenious dragon to find the missing numbers scattered across Hong Kong landmarks. During the show, the piazza is blanketed with snow falling from above, along with glowing LED balls and a giant crystal ball. The free performance will run five times in the evening through December 28, 2017 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui.
