“Boruto” Episode 88 is going to be quite an explosive storyline as the coup d’état in the Hidden Stone Village is at full swing. Right now, the Synthetics and their army of Akuta have taken over the territory.
Fortunately, their plans for human sacrifice is at a standstill at the moment as they need permission from Onoki to carry out the operation. There are a lot of plotlines to follow in “Boruto” Episode 88 with the most prominent revolving around the recent capture of Boruto and the rest of his team.
Although the action sequences are a rewarding salve from all the tension that has built up, what’s really interesting with the arc so far is the narrative that is fueling it. The series is tackling a problem that is also seen in the real world: artificial intelligence. Although the Synthetics aren’t considered human, they do possess a form of humanity that distinctly separates them from the Akuta. “Boruto” Episode 88 will be exploring more of this discussion while racking up the physical conflict unfolding within the village.
Shikadai and Konohamaru are the aces in the hole that the Hidden Leaf village have at the moment. The previous episode saw Shikadai finally making contact with his father and informed him of the coup that is happening in Hidden Stone. It’s still unclear what plans Shikadai have but one thing he’ll not be doing is waiting for reinforcement. This is truly intriguing since the character is the son of a renowned tactician and it would be interesting to see what Shikadai will pull out of the shadows. Meanwhile, Konohamaru is nowhere to be seen and it’s expected he’ll make an appearance in “Boruto” Episode 88.
Hopefully, Shikadai and Konohamaru will run into each other as their team up will prove a deadly combination. With Shikadai’s intelligence and Konohamaru’s incredible strength, the duo could potentially cripple the efforts of the Synthetics. As for when “Boruto” Episode 88 will air, it’s been slated for release on Jan. 6 as the animators are taking their Christmas break.
