It is no longer a secret that the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” manga and anime series have each taken its own directions story-wise. One clear difference is the level of popularity of the collectible card game Extreme: Shinobi Picture Scrolls. It has been featured several times before in the manga, but its popularity will only be emphasized in the anime series through “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 114.
The collectible card game, also known among young ninjas as Gemaki, features heroic shinobis from earlier generations. The cards are categorized based on its rarity and it some assume the card manufacturer base it on the ninja’s popularity and career record. However, Boruto and his friends are going to discover in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 114 that there are more heroes still not included in the deck, including Rock Lee and Shino Aburame.
The video preview of “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 114 shows Boruto and his other friends getting very excited upon unpacking their collectible cards. But episode synopsis and other teasers (courtesy of @OrganicDinosaur) reveal that a rivalry among the younger ninjas will begin as the card maker announces they are going to release just one new card that will only feature one shinobi.
Shino used to be Boruto’s teacher that means the titular protagonist wants Shino on the next card. On the other hand, Metal Lee believes that his father deserves such an honor as well. As a result, Boruto and Metal will take it upon themselves to launch a “ Gemaki proxy war” to decide who between Shino and Rock joins the collection in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 114.
The same “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 114 video preview shows Sarada seemingly uninterested about the Gemaki and views them as just regular cards. The brief teaser also shows Boruto handing out campaign posters to convince others that Shino deserves to be in the next card. “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 114 will air on July 7.
