Online investment platform BnkToTheFuture is going to launch a platform that will allow investors trade equity stakes in companies working with blockchain technology, according to Bloomberg.
The Cayman Islands-registered firm allows qualifying investors to invest in financial innovation including fintech (Financial Technology) companies, funds and other new alternative financial products. For the impending marketplace, BnkToTheFuture will use a distributed ledger to record the investments.
“By year-end, we could have 50 percent of the major companies in the sector on our platform,” CEO and co-founder Simon Dixon told Bloomberg.
The platform will enable buying and selling of equity-backed tokens using a technology built on top of the Ethereum blockchain. BnkToTheFuture plans to issue tokens to power the platform next year. The tokens would allow people to pay for deal analysis, due diligence and investor relations.
The company seeks to raises 33 million in an initial coin offering (ICO), scheduled for February 2018.
The new platform is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2018.
