“Avatar 2” is the sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster sci-fi film “Avatar.” It has been seven years since the first movie premiered on theaters and to compensate for the long delay, the director is offering not one but four more movie sequels and they will be released consecutively.
“Avatar 2” will bring fans back to a journey to Pandora and see its Na’vi inhabitants again. The race of sentient extraterrestrial humanoids will return on screen to present new adventures and tales that will warm everyone’s hearts.
The second “Avatar” sequel is definitely coming as James Cameron even confirmed that they already wrapped up filming. In November, Deadline reported that the director posted a video message about “Avatar 2” filming.
“Hi, James Cameron here and today I’m coming to you from the set of the Avatar sequels — and behind me you can see our performance-capture stage,” the outlet quoted Cameron as saying. “Today we’re capturing some stunt scenes filming some stunt scenes but our principal cast are all wrapped: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet.”
James Cameron added that he also completed the script for “Avatar 5” so this suggests that they are now working on the fifth sequel.
Likewise, Sigourney Weaver also revealed that she is done filming “Avatar 2 and 3.” The actress added that she is currently busy with shooting the fourth and fifth sequels.
Movie Plot
The exact plot of “Avatar 2” is still unknown but it was hinted that it would present a story with lots of underwater scenes. It seems that the Na’vi are set to explore the deepest parts of Pandora’s oceans and learn more about the mysteries that it has been keeping.
Sequel Titles
James Cameron has not officially released the titles of his upcoming “Avatar” films but there were reports that all four sequels have their own fixed titles now. According to BBC, they will be called: “Avatar: The Way Of Water,” “Avatar: The Seed Bearer,” “Avatar: The Tulkun Rider” and “Avatar: The Quest for Eywa.”
“Avatar 2” is coming to theaters on Dec. 18, 2020, while “Avatar 3” is set for release on Dec. 17, 2021.
