Wirex Rolls Out ‘Buy Bitcoin With PayPal’ Feature In 37 Countries

Wirex, recently rebranded from E-Coin, has launched an easy and low-cost way to buy bitcoin through PayPal, the giant online payment system. This will enable Wirex users in more than 30 countries to use the E-Coin virtual Visa debit card to buy bitcoin with PayPal at the lowest cost.

“Wirex makes it even easier for you to start using digital currencies. Now you can buy bitcoin by using your E-Coin virtual Visa card and PayPal!” – Wirex

This service will be available through the E-Coin platform and is expected to benefit bitcoin users and holders in many countries, including the Bahamas, Bahrain, Botswana, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Gibraltar, Honduras, Iceland, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lesotho, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Moldova, Morocco, Mozambique, Oman, Philippines,  Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Uruguay. Wirex says that more countries will be added to the list soon.

“By supporting many countries in the developing world that have access to PayPal, we feel we can open up new opportunities to purchase bitcoin with one of the world’s most common payment methods”, Tim Frost, VP Marketing & Business Development, Wirex, told EconoTimes in an email.

In order to buy bitcoin with PayPal through the Wirex/E-Coin platform, a user will need a PayPal account registered through any of the supported countries listed above, a Wirex/E-Coin account, and an E-Coin virtual Visa debit card.

In order to use this service, users will need a small amount of money loaded onto their virtual Visa card ($3 minimum), as well as a positive balance in their PayPal account.

“Wirex/E-Coin does not charge a fee for this feature; however, PayPal applies a withdrawal fee of $5 per transaction”, Wirex said in a blog post. “The minimum amount you can withdraw is $10.”

A step-by-step guide to buy bitcoin with Paypal is available here and a video tutorial explaining the same:

Wirex Limited recently launched the first 2-way bitcoin debit card with a buy bitcoin function, which will enable Wirex users to fund their debit card accounts from anywhere around the world through bank transfers and other alternative payment methods (APMs).

In February, Wirex Limited announced the launch of Wirex, the world’s first hybrid personal banking solution that combines the benefits of blockchain technology into everyday finances. The rebranding also saw the integration of E-Coin - the successful bitcoin debit card provider under the same company, into the new Wirex. All E-Coin users, cards, and accounts will move over to the new wirexapp.com platform without delay once it launches in April 2016.
