October Optimism: Bitcoin Bulls Eye $100K as Options Traders Load Up

Startale Group founder Sota Watanabe projects a robust October performance for Bitcoin, a view shared by options traders raising their exposure to upside potential around the $100,000 level. Though it is not guaranteed that Bitcoin will reach $100,000, this upbeat view is especially focused on the September 25 options expiry. Derivatives statistics show a lot of open interest in Bitcoin options with strike prices between $80,000 and $100,000; calls far exceed puts.

The high call options, especially around $85,000, $90,000, and $100,000, point to traders betting on a major price rise. It's also important to keep in mind, though, that this options placement does not exactly correspond to a comparable level of spot buying demand. Rather than clear indications of immediate buying pressure, many of these roles may be leveraged wagers, hedging techniques, or operations by market makers.

Even with the positive attitude and call option skew, getting $100,000 from Bitcoin's present trading range of $80,000 to $81,000 would call for a major price increase of about 23.5%. Prediction markets show a more pessimistic view; some say there is little chance Bitcoin will reach $100,000 by late 2026. Though October's "Uptober" story and call-heavy posture help, the market's capacity to maintain the $80,000 support level will determine if this positive trend persists.
