Nintendo Switch Unboxing Reveals First Look At Menu System

Nintendo's next console, Switch

A new unboxing video for the Nintendo Switch was taken by a fan who received the gaming console a couple of weeks earlier.

Den of Geek reports that gaming enthusiast hiphoptherobot filmed and uploaded an unboxing video featuring the gaming console, which was not due for shipping until March 3rd. The gamer showed off the console’s menu system, which consists of language choices, date and time settings, and other console settings setup options.

The video also showed certain features of note, including an “Initialize Console” menu that comes with an important note, which read, “Your Nintendo Account contain your eShop purchase history and current balance. By re-linking your Nintendo Account after initializing the console, it will be possible to redownload any software or DLC purchased using that account (Software that has been discontinued may not be available for redownload).”

Ars Technica noted that the “Initialize Console” menu is quite a departure from other popular consoles on the market today, including Wii, Wii U, and 3DS. The option to link game purchases and downloads to an online account is a gamechanger. However, the site also notes that the “redownload on new hardware” feature is only limited to Switch and its updated versions. moreover , the same menu also comes with a “Maintenance Mode" for users to reinitialize a Switch console without deleting save data.

Anticipation for the gaming console has been very warm. According to Business Insider, the unboxing video picked up around 1.7 million views since it debuted on YouTube.
