‘Modern Family’ season 8’s episode 11, titled "Sarge & Pea,” is set to feature the return of Jay’s ex-wife Dede as they attend a Pritchett family wedding. Claire and Mitch must find a way to prevent their parents from crossing paths. Meanwhile, Phil and Gloria take their respective sons on a college tour.
The synopsis for “Sarge & Pea” posted on TV Guide reads, “A Pritchett family wedding turns into a surprise encounter with Dede (Shelley Long), so Claire (Julie Bowen) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) try to keep Jay (Ed O’Neill) from running into her.
Meanwhile, Cam (Eric Stonestreet) vows to get revenge on another parent after he misses an important part of Lily's (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) dance recital; and Phil (Ty Burrell) and Gloria (Sofia Vergara) take Luke (Nolan Gould) and Manny (Rico Rodriguez) to visit colleges.”
While Jay, Claire, and Mitch attend a Pritchett family wedding, Jay’s ex-wife Dede unexpectedly turns up at the reception, according to Yahoo! News. The two Pritchett children then attempt to keep their estranged parents apart afraid that the two would cause an embarrassing scene at the party.
Claire and Jay’s respective spouses, Phil and Gloria, take their sons on a college tour but apparently differ in how they prepare their sons on a new phase of their lives. They would also have to learn to let go as the boys Luke and Manny head off to college.
Meanwhile, Cam is outraged that an anonymous and rude parent robbed him of an important moment during Lily’s dance recital and things are about to get dirty as he extracts revenge. He runs into her when she recognizes her in a coffee shop while he and Haley (Sarah Hyland) visit Alex (Ariel Winter).
The incoming episode is set to guest star Emmy Award-winning actress Shelley Long as Dede Pritchett. She is best known for her work on several television series including ‘Cheers’, ‘Frasier,’ and ’Good Advice.’ She also starred in films such as 1984’s ‘Irreconcilable Differences,’ 1986’s ‘The Money Pit,’ and 1995’s ‘The Brady Bunch Movie.’
