Melania Trump is the current First Lady, and too bad she will only have this title for four years since Donald Trump is set to leave his post as president in two weeks. While in her position, she became a candidate in the “Most Admired Woman” poll, and sadly, she failed to get this prestigious award while still at the White House.
Melania Trump lost in Gallup’s annual poll for the most admired woman in America since the time she was included in the list of candidates. For three consecutive years since 2017, Michelle Obama won against the FLOTUS, and the first time, she lost to Hillary Clinton.
2020’s Gallup candidates
The said title is something that powerful women in the U.S. want to get at least once. And for sure, Michelle Obama is really proud to get it not just once but three times. The annual Gallup poll was done via phone calls from Dec. 1 to 17. The organization randomly surveyed more than 1,000 individuals to have the result this year.
Obama emerged in the first place and has been declared as the most admired woman, while Donald Trump won as the most admired man in 2020. As She Knows noted, the Trump administration is coming to a close without Melania Trump placing first in the poll.
It was said that most current and former first ladies and presidents are always listed on the top spot, but Melania Trump’s name has yet to take the first place and be declared as the “Most Admired Woman.” This year, she only placed third by earning four percent of the total votes.
Obama secured ten percent of the votes to be at no. 1 while Kamala Harris got six percent and taking the second spot. The other candidates on the list this year include Hillary Clinton, Queen Elizabeth II, and New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
About Gallup and Donald Trump’s win
This is the first time that the POTUS was named the “Most Admired Man,” and it was said that this could be an indication of Donald Trump’s surge in popularity. He bested Barack Obama, who remained at no. 1 for 12 straight years.
The 45th president of America beat Barack by earning 39% of the total votes against the latter’s 32%. On the other hand, Joe Biden is also on the list but only managed to get 13% of the votes.
Gallup is an American analytics company that organizes the “Most Admired” poll every year. It is based in Washington. It is trusted since it’s known for its public opinion polls carried out not just in the U.S. but worldwide.
