Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) stock climbed 3% on October 1 to around $157, supported by a broader recovery in U.S. equities after softer inflation data reduced expectations for a Federal Reserve interest-rate hike at this month’s FOMC meeting.

MSTR stock is also attracting attention ahead of MSCI’s November rebalancing decision amid speculation that digital asset treasury companies could face exclusion from its indexes.

Strategy CEO Phong Le questioned MSCI’s approach to Bitcoin in a post on X. Le noted that while MSCI has told the SEC it does not judge whether a market or investment is good or bad, its recent actions appear to suggest an unfavorable stance toward Bitcoin.

His comments followed a Bitcoin Policy Institute report questioning MSCI’s proposed classification changes, which could potentially remove digital asset treasury firms such as Strategy from the benchmark. The report highlighted MSCI’s previous concerns about cryptocurrency exposure in equities and CEO Henry Fernandez’s push toward greener indexes, which could create challenges for Bitcoin-linked companies because of BTC mining’s energy consumption.

Strive CEO Matt Cole also raised concerns about MSCI’s position on Bitcoin. MSCI is scheduled to announce its rebalancing decision on November 11, with MSTR and ASST among the stocks reportedly drawing attention.

Meanwhile, Strategy’s STRC preferred stock traded near $99.40, putting it just 0.6% below its $100 par value. Strategy has proposed daily dividend payments for STRC holders, with shareholders scheduled to vote on October 28.

From a technical perspective, MSTR stock recently encountered resistance at its 200-week exponential moving average near $167. A sustained close above that level could strengthen bullish momentum and potentially open a path toward $200 if cryptocurrency markets rally.

The ADX indicator is also beginning to trend higher, suggesting the advance that started in mid-August may be gaining strength. However, renewed selling pressure could push MSTR shares lower, with $119 representing a key support level. Bitcoin was trading around $82,881 at the time of writing.
