Indian IT industry body NASSCOM announces blockchain special interest group

NASSCOM (Nationwide Affiliation of Software program and Companies Firms), has joined forces with blockchain startup Blocksmiths and Quatrro, a global services company offering business and knowledge processing services, to set up a special interest group focusing on blockchain technology, Business Standard reported.

To be set up in Delhi, India, the SIG will aim to increase public awareness of the technology as well as work on blockchain use cases in both fintech and non-fintech industries, BlockSmiths said in a statement. It currently has representatives from more than 15 member organisations like Axis Bank, Nagarro, Deloitte, Nokia, Genpact, and NIIT.


“We see our partnership to type a SIG with NASSCOM as a beautiful alternative to develop the Blockchain neighborhood in India. We strongly imagine that India has the potential to guide the Blockchain revolution within the South East Asian area and assist companies from varied industries grow to be extremely streamlined and environment friendly by adopting Blockchain,” Chief Enterprise Officer at Blocksmiths and the SIG Founding Member, Harmeet Singh Monga said, as quoted by News BTC.

According to News BTC, the charter of the SIG includes blockchain advocacy, knowledge sharing and collaboration on blockchain implementation, organizing events such as Blockathon, and contributing to the community by socializing blockchain-based business opportunities with entrepreneurs and students.
