‘Homeland’ Season 6, Episode 9 Spoilers: “Sock Puppets” – Keane Makes Plans with Dar Adal; Carrie Called Into Action, Works with Saul

‘Homeland’ season 6’s episode 9, titled “Sock Puppets,” is set to follow President-Elect Keane making plans with Dar Adal. Meanwhile, Carrie is called back into action and will work with Saul once more despite their issues.

The brief synopsis for “Sock Puppets” posted on TV Guide reads, “Carrie (Claire Danes) catches a break; Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) makes a plan; Max (Maury Sterling) goes undercover.”

Although the synopsis doesn’t offer much details about the upcoming episode, it seems that things are about to get more intense especially for Carrie, Quinn (Rupert Friend), and even Saul (Mandy Patinkin).

The teaser trailer for episode 9 opens to Quinn gathering the supplies he needs, including guns. Carrie is heard in a voice-over as she says, “He nearly died last year and I managed to save him. But I can’t go through that again.”

In the next scene, Dar Adal and President-elect Elizabeth Keane are discussing rumors that have circulated regarding a high-level Iranian defector. Keane clarifies in a somber tone, “Not just rumors.” Dar looks clearly shocked by the news.

Carrie is put on the field once more and talks to Saul about the cover-up. However, Saul doesn’t look too concerned about it and instead wants to focus on the agency as it is under threat.

The previous episodes showed Dar’s transformation into a menacing figure in his fear of losing his power as the CIA’s director. His sinister plan was unraveled in the previous episode, titled “Alt.Truth.” Dar managed to manipulate Keane into distrusting Carrie and her intentions while Saul no longer has Majid Javadi (Shaun Taub) as an asset ever since Javadi was offered money to spread a rumor about Iran breaking an important nuclear arms deal.

Meanwhile, PTSD-stricken Quinn became increasingly paranoid over Astrid (Nina Hoss) and Dar. According to the synopsis for the previous episode posted on Express, Quinn emptied Astrid’s gun and confronted her about talking to Carrie’s neighbor at the supermarket after which he punches her in the gut and leaves to track down the neighbor.

When he ended up attacking an innocent stranger at a motel, he proceeded to ask Astrid for forgiveness before a sniper arrived at the cabin. He was unable to warn Astrid about her empty gun when she attempted to protect herself, leading to her eventual death.

The intruder then turned his attention to Quinn and knocked him into the lake. He then fled the scene after firing some shots in the water, believing Quinn to be dead. However, Quinn was revealed to be alive after emerging from the lake.

‘Homeland’ season 6’s episode 9, titled “Sock Puppets,” is scheduled to air on March 19, 2017 on Showtime. It was directed by Dan Attias and written by Chip Johannessen. It will be followed by episode 10, titled "The Flag House," scheduled to be released on March 26.
