GameStop EXPO 2017 to host the Injustice 2 GameStop Hometown Heroes tournament finals
GRAPEVINE, Texas, May 17, 2017 -- GameStop, a global family of specialty retail brands that makes the most popular technologies affordable and simple, announced today that Las Vegas, Nevada will serve as the host city for the GameStop Expo 2017. Tickets for the annual gaming event will go on sale June 1, and for the first time since launching the Consumer Expo in 2011, GameStop will open the doors to the show on a Sunday to make it more convenient for gaming fans of all ages to attend the annual gaming event.
The GameStop Expo 2017 will take place on Sunday, August 27, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. And for the first time ever, consumers will have the opportunity to purchase accessories and other unique pop culture novelty items and collectibles from participating vendors while touring the more than 250,000 square feet of action-filled show floor.
Also taking place on August 27, is the ESL Injustice 2 GameStop Hometown Heroes tournament finals. The tournament, which first began June 4 at local GameStop stores, celebrates the launch of WB’s newest edition of its popular Injustice franchise, and offers the winners from the eight regional finals a chance to battle for cash prizes.
“Every year our customers ask us to make the GameStop Expo bigger and better,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop. “We have delivered on their request by bringing our Expo back to the entertainment capital of the world, opening our doors for the first time on Sunday, playing host to one of the biggest non-pro gaming tournaments in the industry, and allowing fans the opportunity to purchase some of their favorite novelty items on the show floor.”
As with previous GameStop Expos, some of the video game industry’s top game title and hardware developers will be on site providing demos of their latest games and technologies – wetting the appetites of fans on what is to come during the holidays and into 2018.
