Fintech Awards Luxembourg invites applications for 2017 competition

Fintech Awards Luxembourg that explores outstanding fintech startups across the globe and introduces them to potential new clients and funding opportunities in the country, has opened its applications for the 2017 competition.

The awards are powered by KPMG Luxembourg and the LHoFT with partner companies Digital Lëtzebuerg, Luxembourg ICT Cluster, Maison Moderne and Luxinnovation.

“We were bowled over by the success of last year’s awards — winners like Governance.io went on to secure €2m in funding and bag several new clients among the banks and asset managers present at the awards ceremony. Since the first edition last year, the appetite for FinTech in Luxembourg has only grown. We expect to see even more success stories emerge amongst our future winners,” Georges Bock, a founding partner of the awards and Head of Tax at KPMG Luxembourg, explained as reported by Finextra.

The applications are open until May 1 and fifteen fintech startups will be selected for the competition day that will take place in June. During the competition day, the selected startups will compete and seven finalists will be selected to compete for ‘Fintech Startup of the Year’ award. There are also other awards in the same category such as ‘Women in Fintech Award’.

The final award ceremony will take place in the presence of the Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Luxembourg Finance Minister Pierre Gramegna on 28 June at KPMG Luxembourg.

“The Fintech Awards Luxembourg is a platform for startups to gain the credibility and network they need to connect with the Luxembourg financial services community,” Nasir Zubairi, CEO of the LHoFT (Luxembourg House of Financial Technology), partners in the award initiative, said.

The winners will receive price money of total €50,000, sponsored by Digital Lëtzebuerg. The price money will help them grow and develop their company in Luxembourg. Apart from the price money, awardees will also get prices including four months of hosting at the Technoport (coworking space in Luxembourg); a trip to Silicon Valley; a one-year membership of the KPMG Hub for Entrepreneurship (the Khube); and a free-of-charge LHoFT membership including six months of hosting at the LHoFT FinTech hub.
