First estimate for September 2016 Eurozone current account surplus released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union showed on Friday that Eurozone current account surplus narrowed in September. Data showed that the Eurozone posted a seasonally adjusted current account surplus of €+25.3bln in September compared to €+29.1bln (revised lower from €29.7bln) in the previous month.
The European Union (EU28) seasonally adjusted current account of the balance of payments recorded a surplus of €13.3 bn in September 2016, compared with surplus of €13.5 bn in September 2015. In September 2016, compared with August 2016, based on seasonally adjusted data, the surplus of the goods account slightly decreased (+€11.2 bn compared with +€11.4 bn)
Details of the report showed that surplus of the services account fell slightly to+€10.6 bn compared with +€10.8 bn in August. The deficit of the primary income account grew slightly (-€2.3 bn compared with -€2.2 bn), while the deficit of the secondary income account decreased (-€6.2 bn compared with -€6.9 bn).
