‘Empire’ Season 3, Episode 10 Spoilers: “Sound and Fury" – Cookie-Lucious Conflicted Relationship Intensifies; Jamal Befriends Fellow Musician in Rehab

‘Empire’ season 3’s episode 10, titled “Sound and Fury," is set to follow Cookie and Lucious as their conflicted relationship intensifies. Meanwhile, Jamal will befriend a fellow musician while he is in rehab.

The synopsis for “Sound and Fury” posted on TV Guide reads, “After launching a deadly missile at Angelo (Taye Diggs), Lucious (Terrence Howard) announces his new music project, Inferno, and puts everyone on notice—especially Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), who then vows to knock him off his throne for good.

Meanwhile, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) befriends musician Tory Ash (Rumer Willis) during his stay in rehab; Andre (Trai Byers) continues with his plan to take over Empire; and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Tiana (Serayah) battle Nessa (Sierra A. McClain) for a spot in the music showcase.”

Season 3 of the musical drama television series is set to follow the events of episode 9 and will continue to follow Lucious and Cookie’s heated rivalry. The promo for episode 10 opens to Lucious telling Cookie, “You love me. But you’re not ready to deal with that kind of truth.” Cookie only looks at him with a shocked expression on her face.

It seems that the Lyon matriarch is struggling to come to terms with her real feelings for Lucious even after everything they’ve been through. She admits to Angelo in another scene, “I still have feelings for him.” Angelo looks clearly distressed.

In another scene, Lucious says, “I’ve been attacked from all sides. Feds, gangsters, even my family.” It seems that Lucious’ life will be in danger as footage of him lying in a hospital bed with the aid of a respiratory machine is also shown in the promo.

Promotional photographs posted on TV Fanatic shows Cookie wielding a baseball bat amidst broken glass in Lucious’ office. It remains unknown whether the two will be headed towards a reconciliation, considering she has managed to destroy most of his stuff in her anger.

In the previous episode, titled "A Furnace for Your Foe," Cookie organized a free park concert in support of her beau Angelo in order to help strengthen his appeal to the masses for the mayoral bid. Cookie also found out that Angelo was arrested for a DUI many years ago after driving his car into a lake and leaving a girl he was with to drown.

Meanwhile, the FBI continued their investigation on Lucious as Empire has its assets frozen. To make matters worse, Andre decided to betray his father by working with Shyne (Xzibit) to take Empire as his own as well. They also plotted to kill of Lucious once and for all.

Jamal also made a musical comeback but was forced by his parents to enter a rehab center. Jamal is set to befriend a fellow musician named Tory Ash, portrayed by guest star Rumer Willis.

Executive producer Sanaa Hamri revealed during a previous interview that Jamal would be staying in rebab for a while. Hamri said, “There is a bit of a time jump, and Jamal has to deal with being in rehab first and foremost and kind of healing from, first and foremost, the physical withdrawal and then also psychologically, having to use it as a crutch to perform.”

‘Empire’ season 3’s episode 10, titled “Sound and Fury," is scheduled to air on March 22, 2017 on Fox. It will be followed by episode 11, titled "Play On," scheduled to be released on March 29.
