Cryptocurrency exchange Gatecoin launches FirstBlood token trading

Gatecoin, a regulated online trading platform for cryptocurrency and blockchain assets, has announced its support for FirstBlood tokens (1ST), allowing verified users to trade 1ST for BTC and exchange BTC for ETH, DGD, REP, USD, EUR, HKD and soon CNY.

The announcement comes after the record-speed crowd sale of the Ethereum-based eSport platform, in which it raised ETH 465,312.999 (USD 5.5 million) in minutes on September 26th.

FirstBlood is an Ethereum-based decentralized application that lets eSports players challenge each other to popular online PvP games such as League of Legends, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and win rewards. 1ST token holders are entitled to play, watch and judge matches on FirstBlood, host tournaments and claim rewards in 1ST tokens based on gaming activity, for example, by earning a percentage of fees from watching or judging a match.

"Fun, practical blockchain applications are desperately needed if the space ever hopes to see serious consumer adoption. You can count on one hand the number of teams working on these types of projects: FirstBlood is one of them”, Joey Krug, technical advisor to FirstBlood said.

1ST is the latest Ethereum-based token to be listed on Gatecoin, which was the first exchange to list ETH and REP, and an early mover on DAO and DGD. Gatecoin said that it will continue to facilitate promising Ethereum-based ICOs and new token trading on its platform in the coming months and years.

“We are really excited to be part of the first eSports dapp on Ethereum, and believe that 1ST token trading will ensure the long term sustainability of the FirstBlood ecosystem. Dapps like FirstBlood will be the game-changers, encouraging more mainstream consumer engagement with Ethereum and more developers to create dapps on the platform”, Aurélien Menant, founder and CEO of Gatecoin, said.
