Toronto: Canada's Booming Tech Hub

Everybody is always looking to find the “Next Silicon Valley” since it seems that the actual location doesn’t have much room for many startups. It’s all the big players these days. So many cities are vying for the title as this is the future of the economy in a lot of ways.

If a place can end up becoming a tech hub, then this creates an engine that drives the local economy and has a massive effect. Toronto is poised to take on that role as it has been quickly becoming a hot spot for tech companies to set up shop.

The city itself has a lot going for it in terms of attractions, urban life and quality of life so it is an attractive landing spot for the top tech talent from all over the world. If you’re thinking of places to land to work in a burgeoning tech scene, then you can settle into an apartment at DelSuites and you’ll likely find a spot very quickly.

In this article, I will go over the reasons you should definitely have Toronto on your radar if you are looking for a rewarding career in tech or to set up your very own startup.

Easy immigration

Let’s say the immigration process is as easy as you can hope that it can get. Of course, these processes are not exactly smooth, but there is a more or less streamlined process for companies to bring in immigrants who would be a good fit in a tech company.

This gives many startups their choice of candidates from a very large pool. With so many new jobs opening up between established companies and startups, there are a lot of possibilities if you are one of those people looking to break into a new career.

Toronto is actually outpacing cities like San Francisco in how many jobs are being created.

Government support

Decades ago, the Canadian government planted the seeds which have now become plants in the form of the burgeoning tech scene. A lot of money was invested in the sector for research and development of cutting edge technologies.

In fact, machine learning really took root in Toronto thanks to the foresight of the government and is not the leading player in that area.

The government also has made investments in higher education to make sure that locals were skilled in the tech sector so they were ready to dive right in when the infrastructure was established.

Then, the universities also partnered up with many of the startups in the city so there was a free flow of talent going right into the private sector.

Ready for growth

The best part about this explosive growth as a tech hub is that there is still a lot of growth to come. Innovations are happening all the time especially with regards to its position as a leader in artificial intelligence. This means that there will still be a lot of new jobs opening up in the near future.
