The fourth season of “Stranger Things” has been delayed since its filming was halted in March. The cast and crew were already a month into the production when suddenly everyone has to go home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Finn Wolfhard who plays Mike Wheeler in the drama stated that they were frustrated when they had to stop the shoot earlier this year. He also told The Guardian that this has never happened before so they were sad when told that filming schedules have been canceled.

Resumption of filming

But the good news came in October when it was announced that the cameras are rolling again and everyone is back on the set. Filming was supposed to resume in September but the situation at that time still did not allow them to return to work.

Photos of the filming were posted online and fans are excited to see the cast on famous locations for the “Stranger Things” season 4 shoot. The show also shared a photo of the clapper board to let fans know they are officially back.

New cast additions and who's returning

It is expected for the main cast members to return in “Stranger Things” season 4 and this includes Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Noah Schnapp as Will, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, Hoe Keery as Steve, Sadie Sink as Max, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan, Natalia Dyer as Nancy, Maya Hawke as Robin, Winona Ryder as Joyce and David Harbour as Jim Hopper.

Variety reported that Netflix also confirmed the addition of new characters. Four were cast as regulars and another four were enlisted for recurring roles.

The new regulars are Jamie Campbell Bower who will play Peter Mallard, a psychiatric hospital worker, Eduardo Franco as Argyle, Jonathan’s new best friend and pizza delivery boy, Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson, the head of Hawkin’s High The Hellfire Club and Robert Englund as Victor Creel, an intimidating man who was imprisoned at a psychiatric hospital for murder.

For the actors with recurring roles, Tom Wlaschiha (Dimitri), Sherman Augustus (Lt. Colonel Cullivan), Mason Dye (Jason Carver and Nikola Djuricko (Yuri) are joining in the upcoming “Stranger Things” season 4.

Release date

The show has no official release date yet. David Harbour mentioned in one of his previous interviews that originally, “Stranger Things” season 4 was scheduled for early 2021 premiere but with the filming delay, there is no new date yet.

"The pandemic definitely massively delayed shooting and therefore the launch of our current season four," Shawn Levy, the show’s executive producer, told Collider.
