EA has recently announced the much-awaited sequel to “Fallen Order,” officially titled “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.” The game is not slated to launch anytime soon, but the publisher has confirmed that it will not be available on last-generation consoles.
The announcement of “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” was one of the highlights during the Star Wars Celebration over the weekend. EA has also released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming game, along with a brief description of what to expect in the next adventure of the main protagonist Cal Kestis.
There is no specific release date yet, but EA confirmed that “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” will be released sometime in 2023. A few weeks before the game was announced, a report came out claiming that it will not launch on PS4 and Xbox One. This information was also confirmed at the announcement as EA only listed PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S as the platforms where the game will be available.
The “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” trailer does not reveal any gameplay details. Much of the plot remains under wraps as well. But fans can expect Cal to return, along with his reliable companion BD-1, as they both appear in the official teaser.
Fans also saw a glimpse of the Grand Inquisitor. But the rest of Cal’s allies -- Cere, Greez, and Merrin -- were missing from the trailer. The official description for “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” confirms the sequel will take place five years after the events in “Fallen Order.” While fans saw Cal succeed against the Empire and the Sith, it appears that he is facing a greater challenge in the upcoming game.
“Cal must stay one step ahead of the Empire’s constant pursuit as he begins to feel the weight of being one of the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy,” the game’s synopsis reads. EA also hints at the introduction of new characters in the sequel, and one of them could be the mysterious person in a Bacta tank that Cal and BD-1 are staring at by the end of the trailer.
“Fallen Order” was widely praised for its combat system. While it is still unknown how the “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” gameplay will be different from the first game, the developers also suggested that the sequel will introduce new abilities for Cal.
