Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Book 4 Edge, equipped with the new ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor, is set to rival Apple's M-series chips. Featuring a 14-inch display, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD, the laptop aims to enhance connectivity and battery life for users.
Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge: A New Era with Snapdragon X Elite Processor
In case you missed it earlier this week, the Galaxy Book 4 Edge is a new laptop in development by Samsung that will be the first to use the company's new ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor.
According to WinFuture (via @rquandt), the Galaxy Book 4 Edge now has a 14-inch display, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. The RAM will not be expandable, and it is unclear whether Samsung will release versions with less than 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
It is also unknown whether the 14-inch display on the Book 4 Edge will support touch. However, the existing Galaxy Book 4 laptop lineup, which was released globally at the end of February, does include touch displays.
Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge Pricing and Specs: Bridging the Gap to Apple's Dominance
Pricing information from third-party retailers isn't always reliable, but the source says the Galaxy Book 4 Edge will be available in Europe for around €1,800.
That places the Galaxy Book 4 Edge alongside the Galaxy Book 4 Pro, which has 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and Windows 11 Home. In Germany, the Book 4 Pro costs €1,899.
There are two major takeaways for Samsung and Windows laptop fans regarding the Galaxy Book 4 Edge. The first is that the chip includes 5G connectivity, and the second is that the ARM processor should improve the laptop's battery life.
This new ARM platform is aimed at competing with Apple's M chips, and early benchmarks appear to confirm that the Snapdragon X Elite SoC performs somewhere between the M2 and M3 chips.
However, WinFuture says the Galaxy Book 4 Edge will be roughly the same price as a 13.6-inch MacBook Air with an M3 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB storage. In other words, Samsung's first ARM laptop will not compete with Apple's beloved notebook and will most likely be less powerful than the M3-enabled device. But it could have an OLED display.
In any case, pre-order and post-launch discounts may increase the appeal of the Galaxy Book 4 Edge.
