“Game of Thrones” season 8’s release is just around the corner and to tease fans a bit, HBO just released its newest trailer. Although the video is actually a preview of its programming lineup for next year, the part showing “GoT” still provides some hint about what can be expected in the drama.
Moreover, “Game of Thrones” season 8 was already announced to be the series’ finale so a lot is expected from it. It should tie up the loose ends to cleanly finish the story and it seems that the fans are really going to get the closure they want.
The trailer was a surprise teaser that was uploaded on Sunday, Aug. 26, and it already gained nearly 2 million views as of this writing. While several shows are featured in the clip, “Game of Thrones” season 8 is obviously the main attraction as its scenes are shown throughout the preview.
Some of the scenes were lifted from the seventh season like the part that shows Gendry (Joe Dempsie) wagging an ax. There is also Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Tyrion Lannister’s (Peter Dinklage) serious moment and lastly, the trailer shows Jon Snow (Kit Harington) arriving in their home in Winterfell and he hugs Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner).
With the last mentioned scene, it was just revealed that Jon Snow is set to return to his home but it appears that Sansa is not happy. “Game of Thrones” season 8 will continue with this perhaps unwelcome reunion. Then again, it is not sure at what point or when Jon is set to arrive in Winterfell.
Variety points out that someone is with him but it is not sure who the person Jon has tagged along with in his return to the Stark home. it is not shown but he is also likely to reunite with Arya and Bran.
“Game of Thrones” season 8 is set to premiere from early to mid-2019 on HBO.
