There are a lot of speculations surrounding the DJI Phantom 5 at the moment but all of them remains unconfirmed as the Shenzhen-based company maintains their silence. The latest whispers on the web are claiming that the drone will come out in two models that have features that would heavily differentiate it from each other, 73Buzz reported.

The first model of the DJI Phantom 5 will supposedly be outfitted with a 3.5x optical zoom and 2x digital zoom. The second model, on the other hand, will allow users to change the lens of the drone’s camera to a 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm options.

This is in line with the leaked image of the DJI Phantom 5 that indeed showed interchangeable lenses. Where the flight time is concerned, the new drone will supposedly be outfitted with a never-before-seen battery that would significantly improve flight duration.

While this remained unconfirmed at this point, the battery is allegedly an enhanced version of the LiPo. This will supposedly allow the DJI Phantom 5 to fly for 30 to 40 minutes on a single charge, although charge time will be longer as well, Dronethusiast reported.

As for the anti-collision feature, the drone will apparently have the 360 Obstacle Sensing System, drastically decreasing the possibility of the device to crash on barriers. Of course, with the company remaining reticent about the DJI Phantom 5, it’s best to remain skeptical about these supposed improvements.

Which brings us to the topic of the drone’s release date. As of this writing, it’s still unknown when the DJI Phantom 5 will hit the market. However, speculations would have it that it may hit the shelves in late April or sometime in May. Regarding its price, rumors are saying that it will land somewhere between $1,700 to $2,500, targeting yet again the “prosumer” base of this particular hobby.
