Briferendum Aftermath Series: Supports for Scottish independence on the rise

According to a BMG survey for Herald Scotland, the support for Scottish independence are on the rise as it is now clear that the government UK Prime Minister Theresa May, who was in favor of remaining in the bloc is heading for an exit from the European Union.  In the Brexit referendum, Scotts overwhelmingly voted in favor of a stay within the European Union. 62 percent in Scotland voted to stay, while 38 percent wanted it out. In the Scottish referendum held in 2014, Scotts voted to stay as a part of the United Kingdom with 55.3 percent to 44.7 percent margin. The survey by Herald suggests that now, after Brexit referendum, 49 percent of Scotts support independence.

This poll is still short of a majority and we, at FxWirePro believe that the Scottish National Party (SNP) is unlikely to go for independence referendum before actual Brexit or will be granted to do so by the UK government. SNP chief Nicola Sturgeon, who is Scottish first minister has previously said that she doesn’t rule out a second referendum if the support among the public for independence rise.
