What has to be the biggest understatement of the series is that "Blue Bloods" Season 9, to date, has been a story of many adjustments, and that is especially the case when it comes to Eddie. It would seem like being engaged to Jamie isn’t just a walk in the park as one would first think. After all, he comes with a whole family!
In the video "Blue Bloods" Season 9 shared by CarterMatt, you can see Eddie storm off from the family dinner table after some of the family ridicules her over the way in which she says grace, and while it seems to be just playful ribbing in their minds, she doesn’t necessarily view it the same way as they do. To her, it feels a little bit more like they are ganging up on her, and she’s trying too hard to impress them that it’s confusing that it is not working out anywhere near how she had planned. She wants nothing more than to be a part of the family and to fit in, but it’s difficult when other people have a different understanding of what “welcoming you to the family” really means.
Viewers are aware that Eddie is a pretty resilient, mentally-strong character in "Blue Bloods" Season 9. She is being vulnerable here. Prayer is a special thing to many people, and it’s not altogether easy to feel like you are being mocked for something that is so personal. Also, this isn’t the first time the Reagans have been harsh on Eddie, they’ve done it almost every time she’s been at family dinners since her debut there at the end of last season. Eventually, they have to start to let down the walls. They’re not used to having a new person there, and they need to understand that other people don’t automatically speak their language.
“Blue Bloods” Season 9 will be aired on Oct. 19 at CBS.
