Peloton Announces Appointment of New CMO, Lauren Weinberg, to Replace Leslie Berland

Lauren Weinberg will take over the CMO role at Peloton after leaving Intuit.

Peloton Interactive Inc. has hired a new chief marketing officer to replace Leslie Berland. The American exercise equipment and media company named Lauren Weinberg its new CMO.

According to Marketing Week, Weinberg will be Peloton's second marketing chief to be assigned in just a year. It was revealed that Berland is leaving the company to move to Verizon, where she is set to take a top marketing role. Her departure comes after serving just 11 months at the firm.

Weinberg's Background

The new CMO's most recent work was with Intuit Inc., a software company. She has left the firm after only two months to take on the role at Peloton. Weinberg has more than 20 years of experience as a marketing leader.

She has also worked as a marketing executive at Yahoo, AOL, and MTV. With her excellent performances, Forbes has listed her in its list of "50 Most Entrepreneurial CMOs." she also made it to Adweek's "Top 18 CMOs". She was one of the "Top Women in Marketing" by Brand Innovators.

CMO’s Scope of Work at Peloton

As the new marketing chief at Peloton, Weinberg will report directly to the company's CEO. She will be part of the organization's leadership team and will supervise brand and product marketing.

She will also handle other responsibilities, including growth marketing, global communications, creative, consumer insights, and membership programs. Weinberg's new office as CMO will be based in New York City.

"Lauren's growth-first mindset, coupled with her proven ability to deliver growth at scale will be critical assets for our revitalized brand," Barry McCarthy, Peloton's chief executive officer, said in a press release. "She thrives on understanding both the art and science of effective and impactful marketing strategies for companies, to build awareness and engagement, identify new audiences, and drive customer conversion, all ambitions key to the Peloton growth strategy."

Lauren Weinberg also commented on her appointment as the new CMO, "I am thrilled to be joining the incredible Peloton team to continue building on the momentum of the brand's transformation. As an active member of the Peloton community, I am a huge believer in the impact the brand, product, and community have on millions of consumers."

Finally, Weinberg shared she is beyond excited to commence her work at Peloton. She added that she is seeing great potential in the company's future.
