“High School Musical 4” movie is not out yet even after more than five years of waiting. But fans should not fret because it was already confirmed. In fact, since 2016, this Disney film is already in the works.

According to E! News, Disney Channel announced that “High School Musical 4” is officially bringing back the Wildcats of East High and their West High knights rival for the fourth film installment of the movie franchise. The movie production company stated that they are actually happy to continue the “HSM” saga as many fans adore the TV and film versions.

"High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA," Disney Channel President Gary Marsh, said after the film was renewed. "It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the 'High School Musical' franchise."

In any case, as “High School Musical 4” is sure to come, one of the confirmed details is that it will return with a new set of cast. Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and the rest are not coming back to reprise their roles, but there are talks that they might appear as guests. The new main cast members are Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Olivia Rodrigo (Nini), Sofia Wylie (Gina) and Matt Cornett (E.J.).

“High School Musical 4” is set to be filmed in North Penn Highschool and this detail was verified by the school through a published article on its official website. The school’s principal said that this is good news for everyone because it opened more opportunities for their school.

“This is so exciting for NPHS and the district! “We have a long and distinguished tradition in the arts and drama and now, to have the honor of forever being connected to a musical about high school and it’s just amazing,” Mr. Pete Nicholson said.

Finally, Mr. Nicholson mentioned that filming for “High School Musical 4” will start in 2020, and some of their students will appear as extras. With this schedule, fans can expect for the movie to be released in 2021 or early 2022.
