Adidas Strategizes to Sustain Sneaker Sales Surge as Samba, Gazelle Drive Growth

Adidas is not placing all its bets on the Samba and Gazelle alone. With the increasing popularity of its Campus shoes and plans to rejuvenate the Superstar line, Adidas aims to diversify its portfolio.

Adidas is experiencing a significant surge in demand for its iconic Samba and Gazelle sneakers, propelling the company into a prime market position. Reuters reported that after a few hundred thousand pairs a month at the start of last year, Adidas, under the guidance of CEO Bjorn Gulden, has seen this figure skyrocket into the mons. This remarkable growth trajectory was instrumental in Adidas' first-quarter solid performance, although the company remains discreet about the exact figures for the Samba, Gazelle, and Spezial models.

Priced at $90 and above, with limited editions reaching $350, these sneakers have caught the investment community's eye, especially after the lucrative Yeezy line's discontinuation.

The Balance of Demand and Exclusivity

Following a tumultuous year marked by its separation from Kanye West, which led to its first loss in three decades, Adidas clinched the Footwear News' 2023 "Shoe of the Year" award for the Samba. MSN noted that analyst predictions suggest the terrace shoes could generate approximately 1.5 billion euros in sales this year, accounting for around 7% of Adidas' total revenue.
